Linux

Linux, whose full name is GNU/Linux, is a set of Unix-like operating system that is free to use and spread freely. It is a multi-user, multi-task, multi-thread and multi-CPU operating system based on POSIX and Unix. With the development of the Internet, Linux has received support from software enthusiasts, organizations and companies all over the world. In addition to maintaining a strong momentum of development in servers, it has made great progress in personal computers and embedded systems. Users can not only intuitively obtain the implementation mechanism of the operating system, but also modify and improve Linux according to their own needs to maximize meet the needs of users.

The difference between the Linux kernel version and the linux distribution:

The duLINUX kernel version zhi refers to the version number of the system kernel. The daoLINUX kernel has two different version numbers, the experimental version and the production version. First explain what a Linux distribution is (the English name is Linux Distribution). Linux is actually an open source operating system kernel. Generally speaking, Linux refers to an operating system based on the Linux kernel.

Linux operating system includes Linux kernel and Linux user-mode programs, Linux kernel and Linux user-mode programs are open source code, most of the software code follows the GPL protocol, anyone who gets these codes can modify and distribute these codes.

Because of the high degree of freedom of code on Linux, many companies and organizations have launched their own Linux operating systems, which we call Linux distributions. What different Linux distributions have in common is that they all use the Linux kernel, and different Linux distributions may have some minor modifications to the kernel.

1. Install the public key

Sudo rpm-- import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org

2. Download the kernel

Sudo rpm-Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-7.0-2.el7.elrepo.noarch.rpm

3. Check the kernel version

Sudo yum-y-disablerepo= "*"-enablerepo= "elrepo-kernel" list available

4. Install the latest version

Sudo yum-y-- enablerepo=elrepo-kernel install kernel-ml or yum-- enablerepo=elrepo-kernel install kernel-lt

5. Check all available kernels on the machine

Sudo awk-F\'$1 etc/grub2.cfg = "menuentry" {print iTunes + ":" $2}'/ etc/grub2.cfg

6. Edit the configuration file

Sudo vi / etc/default/grubGRUB_TIMEOUT=5GRUB_DEFAULT=0GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=trueGRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT= "console" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX= "rd.lvm.lv=centos/root rd.lvm.lv=centos/swap crashkernel=auto rhgb quiet" GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY= "true"

7. Write to the startup configuration file of grub2

Sudo grub2-mkconfig-o / boot/grub2/grub.cfg

8. Restart

Sudo reboot

9. View all the kernels in the system:

Rpm-qa | grep kernelyum remove package name sudo cat
