The password of a RG-S2126G switch was forgotten. In order not to delay the use and configuration, it was decided to recover the password.

First, connect the control port of the switch through a PC.

Open the hyperterminal on pc and set 57600, data bit: 8, parity: none, stop bit: 1, data flow control: none, as shown below:

After the switch is powered on, it is completed within 3 seconds: click OK in the figure above, and then keep pressing the "ESC" key to enter the ctrl layer of the switch.

After seeing the above dialog box, we can follow the prompts. Here we select "2". After typing 2, it will appear:

Input filename:

Prompt statement, and then we enter the name of the file to be uploaded. Here we enter: config.text, then type "Enter", and then send-receive the file at the super terminal. The following dialog box appears:

In this dialog box, the file name: type in the name of the file we want to receive, here we type "config.text", and then click "OK" to receive the file, the file will be automatically stored in the storage directory we just selected. When the transmission is successful, it will be displayed (note the red circle in the image below):

Select the directory where we just stored the modified configuration file at the file name, and select 1K Xmodem at the protocol.

Then click "send" and the transmission is successful.

Note that DOWNLOAD OK indicates that the file was transferred successfully, and then we restart the switch and re-establish a hyperterminal connection. When configuring "COM1 Properties", click "restore to default value" in the lower right corner, and then click "OK". After that, we can enter the switch, and the password has been cleared by us.
