Four modes of PAgP

The mode meaning open (on) port forms an Ethernet channel without negotiation; in this mode, the peer must also be in on mode for the Ethernet channel to work properly. Off prevents ports from forming Ethernet Channel Automation (auto) in automatic mode, passive listening, not initiating negotiations, waiting for PAgP to negotiate request packets, and negotiating Ethernet channels only when there is a request. The desirable mode initiates an active request for Ethernet channel negotiation on the switch.

The mode meaning open (on) port forms an Ethernet channel without negotiation; in this mode, the peer must also be in on mode for the Ethernet channel to work properly. Off prevents ports from forming Ethernet channel passive (passive) in passive mode, listen passively, do not initiate negotiation actively, wait for the LACP to negotiate the request packet, and negotiate the Ethernet channel only when the request occurs. The desirable mode initiates an active request for Ethernet channel negotiation on the switch.
