Therefore, when communicating between computers in both the local area network and the wide area network, the final performance is to transfer the packet from an initial node on a certain form of link, from one node to another, and finally to the destination node. The transmission of packets between these nodes is accomplished by ARP (Address Resolution Protocol: address Resolution Protocol) which is responsible for mapping IP addresses to MAC addresses.
