Editor to share with you whether the Internet user access data affect the search ranking, I believe that most people do not know much about it, so share this article for your reference, I hope you will learn a lot after reading this article. Let's learn about it!

Does user access to data affect the search ranking of the page? It's an old topic. As early as 11 years ago, I posted on SEO every day that Google might consider user behavior in the ranking algorithm.

So far, however, all Google engineers who have spoken on this issue have explicitly denied that user access and behavior data are a direct factor in the ranking. Pay attention to their words here, usually what they deny is a direct factor. What we SEO observed is that user visits and behavior affect page rankings at least indirectly.

In the search process, the main user access, interactive behavior, including click rate, bounce rate, user stay time, access depth, etc., in a broad sense, including the impact of social media sharing, comments and other behaviors on SEO.

Does the click-through rate affect page ranking?

First of all, the click-through rate of the page in the search results must affect the ranking, otherwise there would be no Baidu clicker in previous years and now the so-called Baidu fast ranking. Similarly, Google, although publicly denied as a direct factor, some Google engineers told me face to face a few years ago that the click-through rate would affect the ranking. It may not be a direct ranking factor, but it can be a verification factor.

At the end of last year, Larry Kim statistics showed that:

The click-through rate of the top pages is getting higher and higher, rising from 22% in April 2016 to 24% in September.

Pages that exceed the average click-through rate of their location are easy to get a ranking of 1-4 places, for example, pages with more than 20% of the average click-through rate are easy to be ranked first.

Pages with lower-than-average click rates are generally ranked in the 6th to 10th places.

The aPCge click-through rate of your location means that there is a roughly stable click-through rate for each ranking position, such as the first place, usually 30-40%, and so on, as shown in the following figure:

If you don't understand, please refer to Chapter 2, Section 6 of "SEO Playbook password" on how users navigate the search results page.

Of course, search engines need to find ways to remove noise from user data, cheat, and take into account the particularity of different scenarios, otherwise, clicks or fast rows and the like will be popular. As far as I know, many people have tried to use the same method of Baidu clicker in the Google ranking, but did not see obvious results, Google's anti-cheating ability is higher. Now the Google algorithm is likely to enhance the impact of user data such as click rate. I wonder if anyone is continuing to experiment with the Google clicker.

Can you improve the page ranking by changing the page title?

So the question comes, if the page has a certain ranking, such as climbing to the bottom half of the first page, is it to modify the page title, more eye-catching, more attractive click, can further improve the ranking of the page?

The answer is that it often works. I don't know how many readers have noticed that in recent months, I have changed a large number of experimental page titles on a group of pages of this blog, and observed the changes in rankings. I have come to the conclusion that with a better title, the click-through rate increases. It does improve the rankings.

And I found that Baidu will select several similar pages from the same site, the target keywords are almost the same, rotate to give the ranking, to see which effect is better. Baidu after a period of data accumulation, the click rate is high, to maintain the ranking, the click rate is low, the page may run far behind.

Furthermore, is it true that my page is about SEO and can be ranked as a giant by writing "free, high-definition, no-code teacher works + SEO" on the title? Obviously, it's not such a good thing.

Does the bounce rate and stay time affect the ranking?

What should I do when I attract the click? Whether users are really happy to see Mr. Cang, the search engine will also evaluate.

Larry Kim statistics also show that:

Pages with a bounce rate of less than 76% are more likely to rank 1-4, and those with a bounce rate of more than 78% are more likely to appear in 5-10 places.

Users are more likely to stay on the site for a long time in 1-6 places, and his data is more than 8 minutes long, which is a bit long. Those with a short stay are lined up back from the seventh.

Of course, search engines will certainly pay attention to the application scenarios, and the above statistics are not absolute. A blog, loyal readers come to read the latest article, and then leave, the more loyal, the higher the bounce rate. A forum can't be like this. A query exchange rate page, the user came, a glance to know the answer, high jump rate, short stay time, but does not mean that the user is not satisfied.

I also experimented with this. How to increase the length of stay? The easiest way is to make the page a little longer. I have expanded the content of the two pages a lot, and users stay longer when they enter from these two pages. After jumping in Baidu's ranking for some time, the page climbed to a much higher position than before. But this is almost a lonely evidence, can not be said to be a conclusion, can only be used as a reference.

(note: I'm just doing an experiment, for example. The real way to improve stay time and access depth is to improve the user experience, not to make the page longer.)

Therefore, it is recommended that SEO take a look at Baidu webmaster platform, Google webmaster tools, traffic statistics, find out the ugly pages of user access data, and see if they can optimize it, which may have unexpected results.

How do search engines get user access data?

Some data search engines can get it from the results page, such as the click rate.

Some may need to rely on other services, such as Baidu and Google both have their own traffic statistics services, and are the most popular traffic statistics services. However, search engines, including Baidu and Google, have stated that they will not use their own website statistics services or browser data in their ranking algorithms. A few days ago, Eric Enge experiments showed that Google will not use Chrome user access data to discover new URL.

Moreover, many websites do not use services such as Baidu statistics and Google Analytics at all.
