Today, we will give you an example to show you how to configure EonStor CS cluster. We hope to use a simple and clear way. Allows you to determine the NAS cluster scheme in the shortest possible time. Before configuring, you should first understand the user's needs, such as capacity and read / write performance. According to the information provided by users, combined with the various parameters of the storage system, a mature scheme is initially formed.

After you get the user's information, consider the following questions to help you sort out your storage configuration:

How many nodes are needed to meet the performance required by the user?

How many hard drives and which type of hard disk can meet the required capacity of the user?

Does the user need to store additional features (which will require a license)?

Storage needs to be integrated with the cloud, the local storage system stores hot data, and cold data is stored on the cloud.

To meet the user's performance requirements, you can contact the Infortrend presales team to obtain performance reports and calculate the number of nodes. Our example sets EonStor CS 4016 to achieve 1.6 GB/s reads and 1 GB/s writes per HDD node in balanced mode. Since users need the read and write performance of 16GB/ 10GB, 10 nodes need to be deployed. Next we calculate the space, RAID and erasure code / copy need to reserve space for the check code or copy. We use erasure code 4x1 protection level, and RAID adopts balanced mode. If we use the HDD of 10TB as the hot backup of RAID5,1 disk, the space will be (16-1-1) × 10TB × 0.9 = 126TB. Remember to × 0.9 to get the actual available capacity of the hard drive.

Connect each node with expansion cabinet JBOD 3016, and the total capacity will reach: 126TB × 20 = 2520TB = 2.5PB

Erasure code 4x1: 2.5PB × 4ax 5 = 2PB
