Although PPTP has been criticized for its security, because PPTP is fast and supports many systems (windows and andriod can support it by default), many people still choose PPTP as the dial-in protocol for telecommuting. It is important to note that the security of PPTP depends on the user name and password, and the communication encryption is not strong enough. If the security requirement is high, it is recommended to use more secure communication protocols such as SSL (open).

In this article, I will introduce the specific steps of PPTP telecommuting dial-in.

1. Open the PPTP server

First, you need to enable the PPTP service on the remote network. Take the WSG online behavior management gateway as an example, as shown in the following figure:

If you use a single-arm deployment (WSG bypass or bridge deployment), you also need to configure port mapping on the router to map the TCP 1723 port to WSG. If there is a layer 3 switch in the network, you need to add a static route to the PPTP segment on the layer 3 switch.

Create a * user in "user Authentication"-"account Management".

2. Dial-in steps of Windows system

In the Network and sharing Center of the Control Panel, create a new connection and select Connect to Workspace.

Enter a remote IP or domain name.

After saving, dial in with the user name and password you created.

3. Adjust the routing of Windows

In the default configuration, Windows forwards all communications to the PPTP server. In most cases, we only need to access the data of the intranet and go to PPTP. As shown in the following figure, uncheck the "use default gateway on remote network" so that you do not connect to the external network through the PPTP connection.

However, you generally need to add routing rules to match (if the PPTP network segment and the destination network segment are the same network segment, there is no need to add a routing table). As shown below:

4. How do I dial into PPTP for Android phones?

PPTP is supported on Android by default. In * of other Wireless connections, create a new PPTP. As shown below:
