This article will explain in detail how to install Ubuntu in Grub. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you for reference. I hope you can get something after reading this article.

1. Grub installs Ubuntu and downloads * version of Grub4DOS

Download address: http://download.gna.org/grub4dos/

After downloading and unzipping, copy the three files grldr, grldr.mbr and grub.exe in the directory to the root directory of C disk.

2. Grub installation Ubuntu in the downloaded ubuntu 9.10 system iso file (download address: http://www.ubuntu.org.cn/getubuntu/downloadmirrors/#bt), under the casper folder directory, find vmlinuz and initrd.lz (note: ubuntu9.04 file name is initrd.gz), and copy it to the root directory of C disk (there is no need to extract the entire casper folder, the whole casper folder is very large)

3. Establish the menu.lst file under the root directory of Grub installation UbuntuC disk, which is as follows:

Menu.lst title Install Ubuntu 9.10 root (hd0,0) kernel (hd0,0) / vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso ro quiet splash locale=zh_CN.UTF-8 initrd (hd0,0) / initrd.lz

4. Grub step 4 of installing Ubuntu

Check the box before "hide protected operating system files" under the View tab of my computer-> tools-> folder options, and check "Show all files and folders". Cancel the "read-only" attribute of the boot.ini file in the root directory of C disk, then open the boot.ini file with notepad and make the following changes: change timeout=0 to timeout=5 or greater, and add a line C:\ grldr= "GRUB" at the end of the boot.ini file. If you can't find boot.ini. Look at the following actions

Copy the boot.ini in the xp system to the root directory of disk C, and add c:\ grldr.mbr= "grub" (note grldr.mbr) on the * * line. If there is no xp system around me, then I will post the boot.ini code for everyone to use. The code is as follows:

Boot.ini [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1)\ WINDOWS [operating systems] multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1)\ WINDOWS= "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" / noexecute=optin / fastdetect c:\ grldr.mbr= "grub"

(attached: boot.ini file path c:\ boot.ini)

Restart, you can see the "Install Ubuntu 9.10" boot menu, select it to enter, enter the desktop, remember to run in the terminal:

Terminal command

Sudo umount-l / isodevice

After running, you can install ubuntu according to the normal steps.
