This article is about how to clone a virtual machine on vSpere Client. The editor thinks it is very practical, so I share it with you. I hope you can get something after reading this article.
In practical work, we often use distribution, so we need to design master-slave clients, if we create virtual machines one by one, but compared to cloning virtual machines, the efficiency is a little slow. So how do you clone a virtual machine on vSphere Client?
1. It is important to ensure that the virtual machine that needs to be cloned is in the shutdown state, and remember to clone the virtual machine in the shutdown state. Then go back to the Esxi server main interface à Select configuration à and select Storage à under the hardware tab to see the datastore1 logo under the data store on the right.
2. Select datastore1, and right-click to browse the data store.
3. Create a new folder under the "/" root directory below the left file bar to store the cloned virtual machine, and then name the folder. Here I call it VM_machine_dcp5_slave1, because there are too many virtual machines in the editor, so I can't accept such a complicated name all of a sudden, right?
In fact, the editor does not recommend that you name it in this way. In actual naming, you should pay attention to naming yourself or others at a glance. A name that is too long is simply spicy.
4. Select the virtual machine object that needs to be cloned in the folder. For example, if the editor needs to clone the virtual machine VM_CDH_dcp5_master01, find him in the folder, as shown in the following figure.
5. Then select the VM_CDH_dcp5_master01.vmx and VM_CDH_dcp5_master01.vmdk folders under the [datastore1] VM_CDH_dcp5_master01 directory on the right, and right-click to select the replication option, or Ctrl+C is also possible.
6. Go back to the folder you just created (VM_machine_dcp5_slave1), right-click the paste option or Ctrl+V under the [datastore1] VM_machine_dcp5_slave1 directory, and place the two folders you just copied in this directory.
7. Select the VM_CDH_dcp5_master01.vmx file in the [datastore1] VM_machine_dcp5_slave1 directory, and right-select the "add to list (A)" option, as shown in the following figure.
8. The "add to list" interface will pop up, which will name the cloned virtual machine: VM_CDH_dcp5_slave1, and then click next.
9. This step is to select a resource pool. Since the editor has only one resource pool, just click next. If you have more than one resource pool, select the resource pool where the virtual machine needs to be placed.
10. Click finish.
11. Then you can see the cloned virtual machine in the resource pool, as shown in the following figure.
12. Click "power on the virtual machine" on the page and you will see the following interface. The default is the third option. "I Copied It" can be directly clicked to confirm, which means cloning.
After waiting for the virtual machine to start, the clone is successful.
The above is how to clone a virtual machine on vSpere Client. The editor believes that there are some knowledge points that we may see or use in our daily work. I hope you can learn more from this article. For more details, please follow the industry information channel.
