A simple local area network and wide area network experimental platform is built as follows:

The router configuration commands are as follows:

Router > enable

Router#configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

Router (config) # hostname RB

RB (config) # enable password todd

RB (config) # interface serial 3bin0

RB (config-if) # no shutdown

RB (config-if) # ip address 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0

Ctrl z

RB#ping 192.168.1.1

RB#configure terminal

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

RB (config) # interface f (tab)

RB (config) # interface fastEthernet 0Universe 0

RB (config-if) # ip address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0

RB (config-if) # no shutdown

Note:

The router address is the gateway, which is usually set to the first address or the last address. For example, 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.0.254
