Today is patch Tuesday, and you know what that means. Every supported Microsoft product will be updated today, including, of course, Windows 11 version 21H2. As with all patch updates on Tuesday, this is mandatory.

Users on Windows 11 will see KB5008215, which changes the build number to 22000.376. You can download it manually here. These are the highlights:

Update the security of Windows operating system.

The actual fix list doesn't say much:

This update includes various security improvements to the functionality of the internal operating system. No other issues are recorded in this version.

Oddly enough, Microsoft actually made a video of the change log for this update. In the video, it said it added Emoji 13.1with the new Fluent 2D design. In fact, there is actually a lot more content in the video than in the change log.

Sadly, this is standard for the curriculum. Microsoft releases C and D weekly updates throughout the month, and these updates are optional. Because updates are cumulative, if you do not accept these fixes and features, they will be included in the mandatory patch Tuesday update. When these updates are released, that's when Microsoft is really talking about them. Therefore, the change log is a bit opaque when it comes to actual Tuesday patch updates.

You can now obtain the update in the Windows update by manually installing it or checking for it. However, if you don't, it's still a mandatory update. This means that at some point, it will be installed overnight. As usual, there will be a new optional update later this month.

As for Windows 10, support for version 2004 ends today. It still has final patches, and of course, there are patches for everything that's updated. If you are still using version 2004, you should definitely upgrade to a newer version this month.
