Last year, Google launched the Android 9 Pie along with the Android Go version, and today Google details its latest version of the Android 10 Go operating system, which is suitable for entry-level smartphones that run out of memory 1.5GB. Android 10 (Go version) is "faster, safer" and will be officially launched this fall.

Google says apps in Android 10, the Go version, start 10 per cent faster than the low-performance version of Android Pie. In addition, "speed and reliability have also been enhanced". The announcement comes before the launch of Android 10 for Pixel devices earlier this month.

In terms of security, Android 10 (Go version) uses Adiantum encryption, a form of encryption built for low-performance devices that Google launched earlier this year. It allows these resource-constrained devices to encrypt data without affecting performance.

Adiantum is designed to run efficiently without dedicated hardware, which means that all Go users will have the same level of data security as any Android device without compromising performance. This will make the next generation of devices more secure than previous devices and enable the next billion people to access the Internet safely for the first time.

The first Android 10 (Go version) devices will be released "later this fall" and will use the updated Android logo.

At the same time, Google provides status updates on the platform. In the past 18 months, more than 500 manufacturers have released more than 1600 Android (Go version) device models to more than 180 countries. These include India, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil and the United States, with Go versions accounting for more than 80 per cent of activated entry-level Android phones.

Most Android (Go functions) are based on applications, while Google claims to have announced some features over the past year. Google Go has an AI-driven read aloud function, as well as Google Lens. Gallery Go, the offline photo editing app, is the most important release since last year. It is the size of 10MB and can be used to classify shots through machine learning.
