Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
This article shows you the configuration and use of VMWare VMNet 8 and how to connect to the external network. The content is concise and easy to understand, which will definitely brighten your eyes. I hope you can get something through the detailed introduction of this article.
There are many articles explaining the principles of VMWare network on the Internet. I won't repeat them here. Interested friends can search them themselves.
This paper mainly introduces the two most commonly used network modes of VM, VMNet 0 and VMNet 8.
When we install VMware Workstation, there will be two more NICs on the host (physical computer), VMNet1 and VMNet8, and one more configuration VMNet0 in the virtual machine settings.
As shown below:
Next, let's explain separately:
VMNet1
The link mode of host-only is used, that is, the virtual machine can only communicate with the host internally and cannot be accessed by the external network.
VMNet0
Mode:
Use bridging mode, which is the default mode for establishing virtual machines in VM after installing VM.
Scene:
If you just need a virtual machine that can communicate with the host and can access the external network, this mode is fine.
Description:
After installing the virtual machine system, there is no need to adjust the network. The DHCP server contained in the "routing" in the physical network will automatically identify the virtual machine and assign it an IP address.
If there is no route, you can manually assign it to the system. The principle is that you can communicate with the host in the same network segment and pointing to the same gateway.
VMNet8
Mode:
NAT network model
Scene:
Install multiple virtual machines in the host and form a small local area network with the host. The hosts and virtual machines can communicate with each other, and the virtual machines can also access the external network, such as building hadoop clusters and distributed services.
Setup steps:
Step1
View the IP segment of VMNet 8 and see the second picture of Step1
Network segment 192.168.204.0
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.204.2
The third picture shows the address of the VMNet 8 network card on the host.
IP address 192.168.204.1
Step2
Remember the above network information, start to configure the virtual machine, first adjust the network mode of the virtual machine to NAT mode
Step3
After configuration, I started the virtual machine. I used the Cent OS 6.4system (Linux) and configured the network with a configuration file. The following two diagrams show the configuration of static IP and gateway. (windows, please configure the network by yourself)
If you don't need to lock static IP (for example, it's troublesome for hadoop not to lock IP), skip Step3.
Because in NAT mode, the virtual DHCP server that comes with the VM Net8 virtual switch automatically assigns the network address, if you need to view or set it, you can set it when Step1 views the network information.
Step4
After configuring the network, check the network status of the virtual machine.
At this point, our virtual network environment is ready.
Next, we will briefly introduce the principle of VM Net8. After VMWare is installed, the host will be installed with a VM Net8 network card, and a set of virtual routes (including switches and virtual DHCP servers) used by VM Net8 will be virtualized.
Hosts and virtual machines actually communicate through virtual routing, which enables other virtual machines to access the external network through the host.
As shown below:
Note:
1. If you really use a virtual machine as a server and use VM Server to build a system, you should use VM Net0, connect directly to the physical network, and configure static IP to lock the IP address of the virtual machine server.
2. VM Net 8 is suitable for building multiple virtual machines on the local machine or server, and can be used in the component LAN.
3. After setting up VMNet 8, virtual machines and hosts, external networks and other virtual machines can communicate with each other, but the host is unable to ping the gateway, and there is no further study on the principle of VM communication, so it can be fully used.
