When it comes to customization, Android does not compete. It allows users to switch their default applications to home screen launchers, voice assistants, dialers, and messengers. However, Google may be preparing to upgrade its customized features to a higher level than Android 12, according to a new report.

At least since Android nougat, Google has supported the "overlay" system to customize the system (some manufacturers actually use this system). Android Oreo improves the coverage Manager Service (OMS) and Runtime Resource coverage (RRO) to allow applications such as the underlying layer to install themes on the entire system. This is more powerful than simply changing the application's quick setup switch, volume control, and setting the Pixel theme. But the low-level use requires the phone to take root, which puts the average Android enthusiast at extra risk.

However, according to 9to5Google, Android 12 may introduce a system-wide color matching "engine" that allows you to choose specific color "matches" and apply them to the system. Unlike Substratum's theme, which tells the specified app list to use a certain color, the solution on Android 12 involves Android's API, telling app users installed on their phones that they have chosen the smell of lavender. The application can then choose to apply colors to its dialog boxes, buttons, and menus.

Another advantage of system-wide support for color emphasis also means that, unlike Substratum, there is no need to update themes when the application updates and changes settings and moves the user interface. Instead, application developers can update their interface and request the color selected by the user from the Android API, and then apply it to the new update. It remains to be seen whether this feature will become the final version of Android or Android 13, which will be released next year, but the arrival of the first developer preview (Developer Previews) in February should give people a deep understanding of its appearance.
