Philips Hue(which no longer even belongs to Philips) was one of the earliest big names in the world of smart lights, and although the market is now full of competitors, Hue lights remain a popular option for anyone expanding their smart home. There's now a new app that lets you control the Hue lights of any Wear OS smartwatch, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic.

Austin Nelson's new Wear Hue app (via Android Police), available on the Google Play Store for a low price of $1.49, controls the Hue lights on Wear OS, as the name suggests. The app describes it as: "Easy control of Philips Hue devices on smartwatches that support Android Wear (WearOS). Pair with your bridge and fully view all your devices on your watch-no companion app required! "

The only problem is that your watch must be on the same local network as the Hue bridge. With this in mind, you can switch any light, set colors, and change brightness levels. I didn't have any Hue lights to test this app, but the initial Play Store reviews said it could work as advertised.

Philips Hue doesn't have an official app for Wear OS, but the company's iOS and Android apps have just received updates that add new scene categories. Philips Hue also introduced new gradient light strips and tubes late last year, as well as Signe-branded desk lamps integrated with Hue and Spotify that can change the color of lights to match whatever music you're listening to (unless you decide to give up Spotify for another streaming service).
