Many Intel 490 motherboards will be available on March 20. If the most suitable motherboard for your device is to make the RGB more beautiful, then MSI's latest Unify motherboard may have been ordered by Dr. Comet Lake.

MEG Z490 Unify and MEG Z490I Unify are ATX and mini ITX motherboards, respectively. From PCB to radiator all black design. Based on the high-end Z490 chipset, MSI provides two motherboards for overclocking enthusiasts. The MEG Z490 Unify uses a 16-phase electronic supply system, while the younger brother uses an 8-phase design.

Considering the difference in size, the two brothers and sisters have different functions. The MEG Z490 Unify has four slots starting with the DDR4RAM slot, so it can support up to 128GB. On the other hand, there are only two MEG Z490I Unify, so it is limited to 64GB. With regard to the supported memory speed, the MEG Z490I Unify has a large capacity and can accommodate DDR5-4000 modules. ATX models support up to DDR4-4800.

Regardless of the model, four SATA III ports can be used to connect standard hard drives and solid state drives. However, the ATX model has three PCIe3.0 x4 M.2 slots, while the mini ITX model is limited to two PCIe3.0 x4 M.2 slots. Continue to the expansion slot.

The MEG Z490 Unify has three complete PCIe 4.0 ready slots and two PCIe 3.0x1 slots. As you might expect from any mini ITX motherboard, the MEG Z490I Unify has only one full-length expansion slot, the PCIe 4.0 slot.

There are plenty of connection options on the MEG Z490 Unify and enough connection options on the MEG Z490I Unify. Both have Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.5G Ethernet. The Realtek ALC1220 audio codec is responsible for managing the five 3.5mm audio jacks and S/PDIF optical output on the Z490 Unify motherboard.

The MEG Z490 Unify provides one PS/2 combo port, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. The MSI MEG Z490 Unify is sold as an enthusiast, so the brand assumes that consumers will pair the motherboard with a separate graphics card, which explains why it doesn't have any video output.
