The practice of the SAP project summarized at the end of 2018

In 2018, the author has experienced three SAP projects. At the end of the year, the author has nothing to do. When I pick up my pen and make a summary of these three projects, I can also be regarded as giving an account to myself.

First, the D project in which the customer follows the rules and is easier to mix.

This project is an implementation project from scratch. From July 2017 to May 2018, the client of the project is a German-funded enterprise.

During nearly a year of project work, I met the Germans who are famous for their serious and rigorous work and have a good spirit of contract. I was very impressed by these Germans. The customers of D project solve all kinds of problems encountered in the process of project implementation in strict accordance with the agreed workflow and methods, which moves all the colleagues of the project team. For us consultants who have experienced the sarcastic and tricky attitude of domestic clients who like to play hooligans, the clients of Project D are really great! There are not often good customers, comparable to the world's endangered rare species, so we should really cherish them.

Through the practice of D project, the author learned the project management method of Sprint agile management and benefited a lot. At the beginning of the project, many business processes in the project are evaluated by consultants, and then the total workload is counted, and then the workload is divided into several Sprint to complete. In each sprint, the consultant completes the configuration, testing, and training for key users, and finally holds an one-to two-day report and presentation meeting to management, where key users explain to management and show how the relevant business processes are implemented in the SAP system. After the completion of the fifth Sprint, all the business blueprints have completed configuration development, testing and training, and the subsequent launch will be natural. For the author, this is a new project management experience, very fresh and interesting.

Through the practice of D project, the author makes up for some shortcomings in the implementation of SAP. For example, independent configuration of purchase application, purchase order approval strategy; such as purchase, sales and inventory report design and development; such as import purchase pricing strategy configuration and so on. In the implementation of related functions encountered a lot of pits, the author through efforts to find the reasons and fill these pits. All the knowledge points that the author did not pay attention to before, and the problems that have been solved before have been solved this time, the author has done a careful summary, and documented, posted on the official account of Wechat and blogs and other self-media.

Through the practice of D project, the author has consolidated the experience of auto parts industry. For example, the common demand of the metal industry-the scheme design of the metal balance demand; for example, the independent design of the consignment purchase plan of the suppliers in the auto parts industry (involving MMWM and integration with FICO), and so on.

Second, the barbaric and troublesome SY project

SY project is a SAP operation and maintenance project of private enterprises. Private enterprise SAP projects, you know, development and enhancement are rampant, many standard functions are not used but develop new functions, SAP system is used as a database, these are common routines. Due to the schedule of the project, the author only works on the SY project for one and a half months.

On the SY project, the author's main work is to help optimize the inventory report which is in use but can not be used. This is a great challenge, in order to optimize this report, the author took some brains.

Due to the industry characteristics of customers, there are many special needs, coupled with the existence of a variety of special inventory, especially sales order inventory, the author has a headache for more than a month when designing the logic of inventory value at the beginning of the period. After repeated testing and exploration, the logic of the opening inventory value of the materials related to the inventory of the sales order is still not finally clear, so we have no choice but to call the results of the SAP standard report MB5B to obtain the quantity and amount of the opening inventory of the relevant materials.

The design, development and testing process of this report is my biggest headache, most tangled and most unforgettable in 2018. Of course, the report has finally been better optimized, solving the long-standing pain point of the old purchase, sale and inventory statements for the business team but can not stop, it can be regarded as a small achievement. After suffering for it, you can gain a lot. In the process of report design, development and testing, the author has done some research and exploratory work to solve various problems. After these problems are solved, the author has also made a good summary, which has become the source of material for the author's official Wechat account and many blog technical original articles.

Third, the seemingly simple but challenging P3 project

The P3 project in Hangzhou was launched in early July for seven months. This project is the promotion project of P Group's global template in Hangzhou factory.

This project only implements the MM module, coupled with the customer's business has not yet been commercialized production, is still in the production process. So there are some special features in the work of SAP to implement the project. For example, the receiving of production materials without using PP module; for example, the quality department's control of incoming materials and production material quality inspection without using QM module, and so on.

The technical requirements of this project are not difficult, but it is difficult to guide the business team to follow the global template of the headquarters in the United States. Although the customer's global template has been promoted by many factories, it has been very perfect, but in the process of promotion, there are still some twists and turns.

The financial manager of the business team is very assertive and often has different views on some of the suggestions for the global template. His different views led to repeated discussions and communication between the consultant of the project team and him, but in the end he could not be persuaded. He didn't keep silent until the result of his personal communication with global business driver was exactly the same as the advice given by our consultant.

Of course, the customer's supply chain manager is also a person who insists on his own views, and he does not naturally accept the suggestions of some aspects of the global template. He insisted on repeatedly consulting global people and finally got the same advice as our consultant before he kept silent.

The communication with the business team is not smooth, which leads to a lot of concern of the business team, which brings the author a great challenge. I can't help but admit that I'm not good enough at guiding the business team, and I'm not very good at it. This is where the work needs to be improved and improved in the future.
