Today, I will bring you an article about DBMS. Small editor thinks it is quite good, so share it for everyone to make a reference. Let's follow the editor and have a look.

What is DBMS?

A database management system (also known as DBMS) is software for storing and retrieving user data by considering appropriate security measures, allowing users to create their own databases according to their requirements. A DBMS consists of a set of programs that manipulate databases, provide interfaces between databases, include users of databases and other applications, accept requests for data from applications, and instruct the operating system to provide specific data. In large systems, DBMSs help users and other third-party software store and retrieve data.

II. Characteristics of DBMS

1. Provide security and eliminate redundancy

2. Self-describing Properties of Database Systems

3. Separation between program and data abstraction

4. Support for multiple data views

5. Shared data and multi-user transactions

DBMS allows entities and their relationships to form tables.

DBMS supports multi-user environments, allowing users to access and manipulate data in parallel.

Four Types of DBMS

1. Hierarchical DBMS

In a hierarchical database, model data is organized in a tree structure. Data is stored in a hierarchical (top-down or bottom-up) format. Data is represented using parent-child relationships. In a Hierarchical DBMS, a parent may have many children, but children have only one parent.

2. network model

The Web database model allows each child to have multiple parents. It can help you solve the need to simulate more complex relationships, such as order/part many-to-many relationships, where entities are organized graphically and accessible through multiple paths.

3. relational model

A relational DBMS is the most widely used DBMS model because it is one of the simplest. This model is based on data in normalized table rows and columns. Relational models are stored in fixed structures and manipulated using SQL.

4. object-oriented model

Stored as objects in object-oriented model data. A structure called a class in which data is displayed. It defines a database as a collection of objects that store data member values and operations.

4: Weaknesses of DBMS

DBMS may offer many advantages, but there are certain disadvantages, DBMS hardware and software costs are very high, which increases the cost budget, and most database management systems are usually complex systems, so users need to learn to use DBMS, in some organizations, all data is integrated into a database, due to electrical failure or database corruption on the storage medium may be damaged, many users use the same program at once sometimes lead to some data loss.
