It is reported that Canon is developing a new flagship full-picture mirrorless camera, which appears to be in the final stage of development and may be launched in the first half of 2020. The report comes from rumors that Canon's patent claims that the company may be working on an ultra-high-resolution full-frame sensor that could replace the 500000-pixel sensor on Canon's flagship digital SLR cameras EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R. now, according to the new set of rumors, Canon could play an important role in its mirrorless lineup with a 800000-pixel full-frame sensor.

The report hinted at the EOS RS name of the camera, although this is pure speculation. If Canon works on this camera and goes into production, it will certainly be done under the EOS R series full-frame mirrorless camera. It is reported that the camera's specifications include a larger body and larger handle than the EOS R mirrorless camera to achieve better ergonomic design.

Rumors also point to the "new style" joystick on the back of the camera, although the difference between it and the traditional multi-directional joystick or D-pad button layout has not been cited. The so-called high-resolution full-frame mirrorless camera will be equipped with a larger LCD screen and a larger viewfinder (possibly an EVF eyepiece) than the EOS R, the report said. Although it claims that the viewfinder can be tilted up and down, Canon is unlikely to provide such an unusual element in its camera, and the source refers to a tiltable liquid crystal display, which seems more likely. Having a removable EVF module complicates the entire structure and affects overall durability, which Canon cannot imagine.
