This article mainly introduces who invented GPS navigation in the local area network. The article is very detailed and has certain reference value. Interested friends must read it!

The GPS we see today is not a technology invented by one person. instead, it is an application technology of "military to civilian conversion," which is gradually improved and perfected along with the development of satellite technology. The real development of GPS civilian technology began to be truly popular at the beginning of this century, and the GPS navigators we see on the market have only developed in recent years.

Operating environment: Windows 7, Dell G3 PC.

The GPS we see today is not a technology invented by one person. instead, it is an application technology of "military to civilian conversion," which is gradually improved and perfected along with the development of satellite technology. To understand the history of GPS, let's look at a few important historical events:

1957 The Soviet Union launches Sputnik in October. MIT's Lincoln Laboratory and Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory have joined forces to begin the satellite tracking project. The Navy's transmission system experiments began in December at the Applied Physics Laboratory.

1964-1965 First position correction by transmission system satellite aboard Polaris submarine. (This could be a GPS prototype.)

1961 American Airlines begins work on the development of GPS systems to meet military needs.

1968 Standards for defensive navigation satellite systems are established.

In 1973, the U.S. Department of Defense approved the Navstar satellite manufacturing program for the GPS system.

1977 Contains basic features of later GPS satellites such as the launch of experimental satellites carrying the first cesium clocks.

1978-1985 Ten prototype GPS satellites built by Rockwell International are launched.

In 1996, the White House announced that everyone would have access to a high-precision GPS system.

Between 1989 and 1993, 24 satellites were launched at a rate of six per year. The last satellite was launched in June 1993, and these satellites laid the foundation for future global applications of GPS.

GPS has been fully operational since 1994, and improvements have been ongoing. This is because civilian users require GPS to have better anti-jamming and interference performance, higher security and integrity; the military requires satellites to transmit more power and new military signals separated from civilian signals; and for "smart" weapons using GPS navigation, it is more important to speed up signal acquisition.

The biggest improvement in civilian GPS navigation accuracy to date occurred on May 2, 2000, when the United States stopped deliberately degrading civilian signal performance (known as selective availability, or S/A). When the S/A works, civilian users have an accuracy of only 100 meters 99 percent of the time. However, when S/A is cut off, navigation accuracy increases, and 95% of position data can fall within a circle with a radius of 6.3 meters.

From the above analysis, it can be seen that the real development of GPS civilian technology began to be truly popular at the beginning of this century, and the GPS navigators we see on the market have only developed in recent years. Of course, the speed of electronic technology development is amazing, even faster than the development of computer technology several times.

In short, GPS technology is not an invention of one person, but a manifestation of "collective wisdom."
