Qualcomm has been involved in Windows on Arm for several years, dating back to Snapdragon 835, which powered the first wave of Windows on Arm laptops in 2018.

We have seen the Snapdragon 8cx series become the flagship processor of the series, and Qualcomm has now launched Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 at the Snapdragon Technology Summit. New high-end Snapdragon computer chips are forming a major upgrade to Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, which is only a modest upgrade to the first generation of products. First, we adopted the 5nm design for the first time on the Windows machine.

However, the details of CPU are more vague, with Qualcomm saying only that there is a "new" Kryo CPU and a larger kernel. According to the company, you can expect an 85% increase in multithreaded performance and a 40% increase in single-threaded task performance. But XDA-Developers reports that we are studying four Cortex-X1 cores and four Cortex-A78 cores. If confirmed, this will indeed greatly enhance the previous flagship Arm PC product.

When it comes to GPU, Qualcomm is also cautious about GPU details, except that the performance of Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 is 60 per cent better than previous chipsets. Similarly, the second generation comes from Snapdragon 855 in 2019, so it's not surprising to see such a large intergenerational gain.
