According to GalaxyClub.nl, Samsung plans to take a different approach to the Galaxy S22 / S22+ models, which will hit stores early next year. GalaxyClub.nl quoted sources as saying that Galaxy S22 series smartphones will carry a 10MP telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom instead of the hybrid zoom of the Galaxy S20/S21 era.

Still, we'd like to see the zoom feature improved on regular models, as the Galaxy S22 Ultra sits at the top of the range and costs more.

The company will likely keep the 12 MP wide lens and the ultra-wide lens in the package. For now, the biggest mystery floats on the front-facing camera. Contrary to previous rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series should come with a common punch hole. For now, underscreen camera technology should be limited to the Galaxy Z Fold series.
