This article shows you how to start using Org mode without Emacs. The content is concise and easy to understand. It will definitely brighten your eyes. I hope you can get something through the detailed introduction of this article.

Org (non-Emacs)

The Org model (or Org) is nothing new, but there are still a lot of people who haven't used it. They are happy to try it out to experience how Org can improve productivity. But the big obstacle comes from the fact that Org is associated with Emacs, and many people think that both are indispensable. That's not true! Once you understand the basics, Org can be used with a variety of other tools and editors.

Org, in essence, is a structured text file. It has titles, subheadings, and various keywords based on which other tools can parse files into calendars and unprocessed lists. Org files can be edited by any plain text editor (for example, Vim, Atom, or Visual Studio Code), and many editors have plug-ins to help you create and manage Org files.

A basic Org file looks like this:

* Task List** TODO Write Article for Day 16-Org w/out emacs DEADLINE: * * DONE Write sample org snippet for article-Include at least one TODO and one DONE item-Show notes-Show SCHEDULED and DEADLINE*** TODO Take Screenshots** Dentist Appointment SCHEDULED:

Org is an outline format that uses * as the level of identification of an item. Anything that starts with TODO (yes, bigger) is unhandled. The work labeled DONE indicates that the work has been completed. SCHEDULED and DEADLINE identify the date and time associated with the transaction. If there is no time anywhere, the transaction is considered an all-day activity.

With the right plug-ins, your favorite text editor can be a powerful tool full of productivity and organizational skills. For example, the vim-orgmode plug-in includes the ability to create Org files, syntax highlighting, and key commands to generate schedules across files and to synthesize lists of unhandled items.

Atom's Organized plug-in can add a sidebar on the right side of the screen to display the schedule and unhandled items in the Org file. By default, it reads multiple Org files from the path set in the configuration item. The Todo sidebar allows you to mark an unfinished item as completed by clicking on it, and it automatically updates the source Org file.

There are also a host of Org tools that can help you stay productive. You can develop your own scripts and tools using libraries such as Python, Perl, PHP, NodeJS, etc. Of course, there is Emacs, and its core functions include support for Org.

The Org pattern is one of the great tools for tracking work and time that needs to be done. And, contrary to rumors, it doesn't need Emacs, any text editor is fine.

The above is how to start using Org mode without Emacs. Have you learned any knowledge or skills? If you want to learn more skills or enrich your knowledge reserve, you are welcome to follow the industry information channel.
