Operation instruction

Before formally installing and deploying SCCM, we need to perform a series of prerequisites for preparation and installation. We first need a schema extension before we finish installing the SCCM server on AD using ConfigMgr Prerequisites Tool.

Environmental preparation

The domain environment is a single domain environment:

The domain control server is named DC01 and the domain name is pushits.com.

SCCM server to be installed:

The server name is SCCM01 operating system Windows Server 2016. The system updates and upgrades to the newly created SCCMAdmin domain user account that has been added to the domain, which has joined the Scheme Admins, Domain Admins and Administrators groups in the domain.

Operation steps

1. Run ConfigMgr Prerequisites Tool on SCCM01 and switch to the extended schema interface: Directory-Schema

We are in a single domain control environment, so the domain control master architecture host is DC01

3. Select the executable path required to extend the AD architecture: browse

The executable program EXTADSCH.EXE is in the SCCM installation package SMSSETUP\ BIN\ X64. The reference path is as follows: e:\ Software\ SCCM\ SC_Configmgr_SCEP_1902\ SMSSETUP\ BIN\ X64

4. Running stage will copy the executable program to the C disk root directory of DC01

5. Running extand executes the extension command:

When the extension is complete, a dialog box pops up:

6. Verify that the AD extension schema is successful: expand the log files in the C root directory of DC01 and view

Currently, only the executable programs of the extended schema copied by the tool are seen, and no log files are seen, so the AD schema extension is not successful.

7. Resolve the problem of unsuccessful use of extension

This should be a bug on the tool. Find and copy the mfc120.dll and msvcr120.dll files in the SCCM installation package SMSSETUP\ BIN\ X64 to the root directory of DC01 C disk:

Then extand is executed according to step 5, and the log file is viewed by step 6 after the successful expansion dialog box pops up. We see that Success extended the Active Directory Schema in the log indicates that the AD schema extension has completed successfully:

(Tips: this series mainly depends on how to use the tool. You can double-click extand on the DC01 to complete the schema extension.)
