View the capacity of a single disk snapshot

As long as you have created too many snapshots of a disk, you can use the snapshot chain feature on the ECS console to view the capacity of snapshots of the disk.

Snapshot chain is a relational chain composed of all snapshots in a disk, and each disk corresponds to a snapshot chain, so snapshot chain ID is disk ID. A snapshot chain includes the following information:

Snapshot node: a node in the snapshot chain represents a snapshot of the disk.

Snapshot capacity: the storage space occupied by all snapshots in the snapshot chain.

Snapshot quota: there can be up to 64 snapshot quotas per snapshot chain, including manual and automatic snapshots. After the quota limit is reached, if you want to continue to create automatic snapshots, the system automatically deletes the earliest automatic snapshots.

You have created a snapshot of a disk.

Operation steps

Follow these steps to view the capacity of all snapshots on this disk:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

Select the region.

In the left navigation bar, select Snapshot and Mirror > Snapshot list.

Confirm the disk ID that needs to find the snapshot capacity. The disk should have completed at least one snapshot.

In the left navigation bar, click the snapshot chain.

View all snapshot capacity of the disk according to the disk ID found in step 4. You can view the number and capacity of snapshots for this disk here.

In the operation column of the specified snapshot chain, click details to go to the snapshot chain details page, where you can view the snapshot information of the disk and perform the operation of rolling back the cloud disk or creating a custom image using the snapshot.

View all snapshot capacities in a region

Follow these steps to view all snapshot capacities in a region:

Log in to the ECS Management console.

Select the region.

In the left navigation bar, select Snapshot and Mirror > Snapshot capacity.

You can see all the snapshot capacity under the selected region, and you can view the snapshot capacity within a specified period of time as needed.
