Meta has launched the Quest 2 Super Bowl ad before the big competition, and it's hard to understand how it should promote meta-universe (through the Wall Street Journal). It evokes a strange sense of nostalgia-and a slight fear-associated with childhood spent in disturbing electronic animation, while exudes Freddie's five nights and black mirror atmosphere.

The commercial opens in a Chuck E. Cheese-style environment-cleverly called Questy's-with a furry electronically animated dog, a pink six-armed creature and two penguins performing Simple Mind's "Don't You (Forget About Me)" on the stage in the arcade. Soon after, as the site was permanently closed, a mobile worker dragged the lifeless body of the animation band out of the building.

The dog (somewhere between cute and creepy) ends up staring out of the window at a pawnshop with no other animation staff and playing different roles in passing between owners. After a brief appearance as a mini golf course decoration, it was seen being thrown out of the back of a pick-up truck and lying helplessly in a garbage compactor-until the machine was miraculously pulled out as it began to approach its head.

The same woman who pulled the dog out of the garbage compactor put the electronic animation on display in the space center, fixing it in a still position pointing to the cafeteria. A young man who tried the VR exhibition at the center took off his Quest 2 headphones and somehow thought of strapping it to an animated dog.

Well, this is where the black mirror-the y-dog is teleported to Meta's virtual reality, where he meets with members of his old band and is able to perform again, and you may remember the theme of an episode of San Junipero, which features a virtual world in which the consciousness of the elderly and the dead thrives.
