How do I upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RAC from 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4?

Main steps to upgrade GI and RAC from 11.2.0.3 to 11.2.0.4:

1. Upgrade GI

1) download the 11.2.0.4 GI software:

11.2.0.4 download link:

Https://updates.oracle.com/download/13390677.html

P13390677_112040_platform_3of7.zip is Oracle Grid Infrastructure (includes Oracle ASM, Oracle Clusterware, and Oracle Restart).

2) install 11.2.0.4 GI to a new ORACLE_HOME (do not stop the old GI, all nodes GI are started).

3) Select "Upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure or Oracle Automatic Storage Management" when installing.

4) at the end of the installation, follow the prompts to use the root user to execute rootupgrade.sh on each node in turn.

5) modify the grid user's environment variables ORACLE_HOME and PATH until the new path

two。 Upgrade RAC database software

1) download 11.2.0.4 database software:

The two patch packs above are Oracle Database (includes Oracle Database and Oracle RAC).

2) be sure to cancel the settings of ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID and so on for oracle users before installation.

3) install 11.2.0.4 RAC to a new ORACLE_HOME and choose to install only the software without building the library (Install database software only)

4) set the correct ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME during the installation of 11.2.0.4.

3. Upgrade existing databases

1) be sure to back up the database before upgrading.

2) run utlu112i.sql to check before the upgrade (the database is started):

Su-oracle

Export ORACLE_HOME= old ORACLE_HOME

Export ORACLE_SID= instance name

$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL > @ / u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/rdbms/admin/utlu112i.sql
