We all know that testing is important, but as developers, testing is despised. It's a serious problem, but it's natural. I have been studying load test for some time, and I have been wondering what load test can bring us. Frankly speaking, if it is not specifically requested by customers, we generally will not do this test. Even if we do this test, few people can understand these charts and pass the test. We didn't analyze it carefully, and we didn't use it to improve our code. This is a really big problem. But why is that?

Chinese people mainly live on the mainland. The characteristic of mainlanders is that they don't take anything too seriously, because there are many choices. This is very different from people living on islands. Moreover, the people on the continent could not be too serious about many things, because being too serious really did not work. Many years ago, we preached how the Japanese were, that the roads were clean, and asked Beijing's sanitation workers to do the same, but Beijing could not become Tokyo anyway. This is determined by the environment. Therefore, the Chinese character is not so serious. The same is true for Load Test. Generally speaking, the system can run without errors. Why should it be so perfect? Party A doesn't pay me more. So, I have been in this circle for many years.

However, the situation was different now. If he really encountered a competitive boss, he would have to seriously do things well. So I settled down and read a few documents about Load Test, and actually did several tests. I have some understanding of Load Test, and I would like to share it with you here.

Load Test is not a functional test, it mainly tests the performance of the system, its ability to withstand pressure, and its performance under different hardware environments. I think this is something that IT should do, not development should do. But the test results are something that developers need to improve on. The biggest problem with Load Test is the concept, a lot of concepts, a lot of counters, you don't know these concepts, you can't play. So the first step is to understand the concept.
