How to solve the problem that the Outlook inbox displays more than 1000 messages, but all of them are read when you view them?

Problem description

A colleague on the team received a repair request from a user saying that there were several unread emails in his Outlook inbox, but all of them had been read after careful inspection.

Solution idea

This may be caused by setting the number of unread messages shown in the default Outlook mailbox inbox to display all messages.

Changing back to the default settings will solve the problem.

Operation steps

Right-click Inbox > Properties:

General > check Show number of unread items:

When you view Inbox again, only the number of unread messages is displayed, all of which are currently read, so the number of unread messages is empty:
