Didi is making every effort to promote the commercialization of its self-driving business. In the keynote speech at the conference, DiDi CTO and CEO Zhang Bo, a self-driving company, expounded Didi's understanding of self-driving and Didi's layout in the field of self-driving.

"Autopilot can be of great value in both directions of traffic." Autopilot will significantly reduce the occurrence of these things; the second is efficiency. He also said that the first stage of the development of autopilot is prototype verification. In the past three years or so, a large number of startups and capital have entered the field, and many companies have even made a Demo or sent a video to get investment, but this stage has now ended this year.

"now the whole industry has entered the second stage. The second stage is to really turn self-driving technology into a product into everyone's life. In this stage, competition changes from company to company to alliance to alliance." Zhang Bo said.

He stressed that for a long time, self-driving cars will be a supplement to, not a substitute for, human drivers. At present, the cost of self-driving system in a car is still very high, beyond the affordability of most consumers, but it is feasible in commercial applications. "in the next decade, the most important commercial scenario for L4 and L5 autopilot technology will be in travel companies like Didi."

In early August, Didi announced that it would spin off its autopilot business and set up an independent autopilot company. During this year's World artificial Intelligence Congress, Didi announced that it had won a Shanghai self-driving driving test license and opened its L4 self-driving fleet to the public.
