Oracle Overview

Oracle 19c has been released for almost a year, and the number of installations on AIX and Linux is also quite large. The most common installation method is graphical, which can avoid problems that cannot be found by silent installation. Today, I helped a friend install oracle 19c rac. When executing root.sh, I reported an error. The following is a detailed analysis:

Execute root.sh, print log on screen, show when installing acfs, error failed,

The foreground log only shows failed, and there is no specific error message. We look for the log of root.sh under the relevant path, and the path is displayed again in the foreground log, which is/u01/app/grid/crsdata/hostname/crsconfig/rootcrs_hostname_date.log. Search for failed directly, we can see the relevant error is:

From this error message we can probably see that the installation failed because ACFS found the previous version during the installation process, and failed to install the new acfs during the uninstall process.

AIX: ROOT.SH FAILS WITH CLSRSC-196: ACFS DRIVER INSTALL ACTIONS FAILS (Doc ID 1929899.1).

After inquiry, this platform is AIX, previously installed 12.2.0.2, installation 19c has no machine, so rm -rf $GRID_HOME, directly delete the relevant directory to uninstall, without using the normal uninstall command. This may cause the file to remain, resulting in failure. According to the MOS solution:

Manually remove the driver files as root user:

Copy the following files from /usm/install/cmds/bin to /usr/lib/methods/, overwriting the existing ones:

Modify the following files: /usr/lib/methods/ucfgacfsctl, /usr/lib/methods/ucfgadvmctl, /usr/lib/methods/udefacfsctl, /usr/lib/methods/udefadvmctl, change "ORA_CRS_HOME=" from old 11.2 GRID_HOME to 12.1 GRID_HOME

Run the following commands to complete deinstallation of old ACFS version:

Details of implementation are as follows:

By comparing it with the first picture: libhasgen12.so. The version shown here is missing 12, which should be a residual version of oracle 12c rac installed previously. When uninstall, libhasgen19.so find and version 19. So it can be distinguished by version. root.sh When installing acfs, it calls version 12c, but 12c has been deleted, so it reports an error that it cannot be found. It should be reinstalled to find version 19.
