1. Verify that the database to be moved is in a clean closed state. If the database is not in a clean shutdown state, a soft recovery is performed.

Remarks

When you perform a soft restore, any uncommitted log files are committed to the database. If you do not have all the required log files, the soft recovery process cannot be completed. Proceed to step 2.

To commit all uncommitted log files to the database, run the following command at the command prompt.

ESEUTIL / R

6. After loading the database, use Set-Mailbox cmdlet to modify the user account settings so that the account points to the mailbox on the new Mailbox server. To move all users from the old database to the new database, use the following syntax.

Get-Mailbox-Database | where {$_ .ObjectClass-NotMatch'(SystemAttendantMailbox | ExOleDbSystemMailbox)'} | Set-Mailbox-Database

7. Use the following syntax to trigger the delivery of any messages that remain in the queue.

Get-Queue | Retry-Queue-Resubmit $true
