Javier Jard ó n, a member of the ­GNOME development team, today announced the latest development progress of the GNOME 3.28 desktop environment and the first snapshot--GNOME 3.27.1, which is now available for download and public testing. The release of GNOME 3.27.1, originally scheduled for the weekend, was delayed by three days, and the official release is scheduled for March 14, 2018.

­Javier Jard ó n said: "the first unstable version of GNOME 3.27.1 in the development of gnome 3.28 branch, although most of the modules migrated smoothly, there are still some problems. If you want to debug compatibility with 3.27.1, you can use JHBuild modulesets."

­GNOME 3.27.1 does not contain many applications and core components, but GNOME Builder, Evolution, Epiphany, Baobab, GTK+, Mutter, GNOME Shell, Simple Scan, Yelp, Disks, Logs, Maps, Calendar, Boxes, Clocks, Online Accounts GVFS and dconf-editor have all ushered in new versions.

­according to the roadmap, GNOME 3.27.2 will be launched on November 15, while GNOME 3.27.3 will be available on December 13. In January next year, the GNOME 3.28 desktop environment will enter the Beta phase. GNOME 3.27.4 is expected to be launched on January 10, 2018, while a second Beta version will be launched on February 14, Valentine's Day. In addition, several candidate versions will be released, and then the official version will be available on March 14, 2018, and the first maintenance version will be available in three weeks, that is, April 4.
