Yate is a well-known music tag editing tool that can open files in different formats, so how does Yate open files in different formats? Let's take a look at it with the editor of macz.

The following list describes how to open a file:

Use the File > Open menu item to select aif,aifc,aiff,ape,dff,dsf,flac,mp2,mp3,mp4,m4a,m4v,m4b,oga,ogg,opus,wav and wv files and folders. You can also open the m3udir m3u8 recorder csvpentsv and tab files.

Drag any of the above file types and folders from Finder to the list of files displayed in the main window.

Select any of the above file types in Finder, and then select Yate from the Open With project in the context menu.

Drag the track from Finder to the docking icon in Yate.

Drag audio files and folders from the file browser in Yate to the list of files displayed in the main window. Depending on the current open mode, you can also drag in M3U and m3u8 files.

Select one or more tracks from Yate File Manager, and then select Load from the context menu. You can do this by setting double-click through the View context menu item.

Drag the track from iTunes, music, or TV to the list of files displayed in the main window.

Drag image and artwork files to the file list to add artwork to the selected track.

Open the most recently opened project through File > Open the most recent menu item.

Use the File > Open path in Clipboard menu item to open one or more files or folders of the path in the system clipboard. When batch processing, Yate generates a log file. The folder is identified in the log as: folder: / path. If you copy the / path specification to the system clipboard, you can load the folder by selecting the File > Open path in Clipboard menu item. This may be easier than navigating to the desired folder in Finder.

Use the File > Open track player menu to open tracks that are currently playing (or paused) in an application that has the Open track player interface installed. You can find more information in "Open track playback in menu".

Use File > in the menu to open the selected item to open the selected track in iTunes, music, or TV.

In the database viewer, when viewing the track or album database, select one or more items, and then perform Open from the context menu. You can also double-click an item in the folder or File path column.
