At the end of last year, Microsoft announced that the Windows 10 Edge browser would soon switch from EdgeHTML (born in the old IE Trident) to the Chromium/Blink (Webkit subcore) engine, and the new Edge will be launched in early 2019 with downward support for Windows 7 and macOS.

After repeatedly stealing download links and installing packages, Microsoft simply opened the Insider page of the new Edge browser, offering downloads of Dev Channel and Canary Channel versions.

However, the relatively stable version of Beta, which is updated every six weeks, is not yet available, and the version for Win 7/8.1/macOS is not yet available, in other words, only Win10 users can try it.

Verified by download, the version number of Canary channel is 75.0.121.1 and the version number of Magi Dev channel is 74.1.96.24. After trial installation, some Win7 users said that it can run normally.

It is said that a browser kernel contains 24 million lines of code, almost half the size of the Windows operating system. Switching to open source Chromium should reduce a lot of manpower and financial resources of Microsoft's development team.
