Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--
This time, I tried to do Raid0 and Raid5 on Dell server R710, and I tested it successfully.
Because you create Raid0 in the same way as Raid5, take creating Raid5 as an example.
1. When starting, Ctrl+ R key to enter the Raid configuration interface, as shown in the figure (please note that there is an operation prompt on this screen. If you do not know which key to press, you can see the prompt):
2. Delete the original Raid group:
3. Delete the original Raid configuration information:
You can see the physical disk that is not configured, as shown below:
If you cannot see the physical disk that has been configured, you can press Ctrl+P to turn the page, select Foreign Coufig-import, and then Clear Coufig to see the configured physical disk.
4. Create a new virtual hard disk group (take creating Raid5 as an example)
5. Create a new hard disk level: select Raid-5 on Raid Level and use spaces in physical disks to select hard disk:
6, modify the advanced settings, after selecting the physical disk, you can press the down arrow key, or Tab key, move the cursor to Advanced Settings, press the spacebar to turn on (disable) the advanced settings. If enabled (the X mark in the red box is on), you can modify the Stripe Element Size size, and you can choose whether to initialize the array configuration at the Read Policy and Write Policy,Initialize of the array.
We choose initialize (initialization)
7. After you have finished the configuration, select OK, and then select OK for everything that appears next. In the end, after there is no pop-up box, press ESC to exit. After exiting, the screen will be prompted to restart the server. The Dell server appears to be rebooted by Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Doing Raid0 is similar to this step, except that you can select Raid0 on Raid Level
The above is for reference only, if you want to know what Raid0,Raid5 is
* what is Raid?
Raid is disk array (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks,RAID), which means "redundant array of independent disks". I knew about it when I installed the server. So let's talk about the Raid level on the server.
* Raid level:
* Raid0:Raid0 is the simplest form of building a disk array. It only requires more than one hard disk, and the cost is low. However, Raid0 does not provide redundancy or error repair capabilities. What does it mean, that is, on the server, if all the hard drives are made into Raid0 format, as long as there is a hard disk, you can do it. Suppose we have six hard drives on the server, all of which are made into Raid0. During the operation of the server, there is a hard disk that makes an error because it has been working all the time, then all the data on it is gone. But its cost is low, and it can be done with a hard drive.
* Raid1:Raid1 is called disk mirroring. the principle is to mirror the data from one disk to another, that is, when the data is written to one disk, it will generate an image file on another idle disk, so as to maximize the reliability and repairability of the system without affecting performance, as long as at least one disk in any pair of mirror disks in the system can be used. Even when there is a problem with half of the hard disk, the system can run normally. When a hard disk fails, the system will ignore the hard disk and use the remaining mirror disk to read and write data.
Although this is absolutely safe for data, the cost will also increase significantly, with a disk utilization of 50%. For four hard drives with 80GB capacity, the available disk space is only 160GB. In addition, the Raid system with hard disk failure is no longer reliable, it is necessary to replace the damaged hard disk in time, otherwise the remaining mirror disk will also have a problem, then the whole system will crash. After the replacement of the new disk, the original data will take a long time to synchronize the mirror, and the external access to the data will not be affected, but the performance of the whole system will decline.
* Raid10: you should say Raid5 after you say Raid0 and Raid1, but because Raid10 is a combination of Raid0 and Raid1, you put them together. Raid10 can also be written as Raid0+1, and you can know from the name that Raid10 is a combination of Raid0 and Raid1. When we use Raid1 alone, there will be problems like using Raid0 alone, that is, we can only write data to one disk at a time, and we can't make full use of all the resources. Therefore, with the combination of Raid0 and Raid1 technology, in addition to distributing data on multiple disks, each disk has its own physical mirror disk, which provides full redundancy, allows one of the following disk failures without affecting data availability, and has fast read / write capabilities. But at least 4 hard drives are required to create a Raid0+1.
* Raid5:Raid5 can be seen as a low-cost solution for Raid0+1. Raid0 and Raid1 have their own advantages, so let's just put them together. Raid10 is equivalent to a compromise. But as you can see in Raid10, it takes four hard drives to do it, and the cost is relatively high, so let's compromise again. Raid5 needs three hard drives to do it.
One place feels amazing, that is, at the Raid5 and Raid10 levels, a hard drive is damaged while the server is running, so you can just take it off and replace it without affecting the data at all. But it is not clear how the computer recognizes it and how it is calculated.
In addition, I come into contact with the hard drive into Raid0 and Raid5 level. What specific level you want can be based on your own needs.
