After installing Ubuntu Server 14.04and discovering that the root password is configured today,

Unexpectedly can not log in ssh, but su root is normal! Why?

There are restrictions in sshd_config in the original new version.

# vim / etc/ssh/sshd_config

# Authentication:

LoginGraceTime 120

# PermitRootLogin without-password # find it here and comment it

Change PermitRootLogin yes # to yes and restart ssh

StrictModes yes

# service ssh restart

# Tips: note here that the restart of / etc/init.d/ssh restart in this way is not successful.
