The customer of my project is a foreign pharmaceutical factory, but the pharmaceutical factory has not yet commercial production, is still in the stage of commissioning production, commercial production is estimated to be 4-5 years later.

The reason why the customer still started the SAP project, mainly out of the need of management, the customer adopts the way of SAP system in stages to improve the IT construction of the factory. Customer this factory at this stage of the SAP system, only covers the direct material procurement and IM Level inventory management module, that is, only the SAP MM module.

The discussion of the business process and the setting of the master data in the early stage of the project attracted some attention from the management. Later, the author combined with the global template of the customer group headquarters and related processes, made in-depth communication with the management team, and obtained the support of the management team.

The author believes that some regulations and suggestions of customer group headquarters have certain reference value and reference significance for SAP projects of other factories in similar trial production stage.

First of all, the setting of self-made material type.

At present, the self-made products of the customer factory include semi-finished products and finished products (finished products in the sense of process). The project team does not recommend that the business staff use normal self-made (HALB) and finished product (FERT) material types, but to enable a custom Non-Valuated semi-finished material type. For this type of material, we only care about the quantity of inventory on the system, regardless of the amount of inventory. The customer is the pharmaceutical industry, and the business master data management process of its headquarters stipulates that only self-made products after commercial production can be defined as formal material types such as HALB and FERT. And customer headquarters for the creation of material master data, is to develop a set of customer characteristics of the workflow, for finished products (FERT) and semi-finished products (HALB) material number creation, in the approval process, the headquarters will be involved. Even if the factory locally wants to use the material type HALB or FERT for its own products, the customer's headquarters will not allow it at this stage.

Secondly, the setting of material cost price (standard price).

In view of the fact that the customer factory is currently in the stage of commissioning and production, the materials are included in the R & D cost. According to the financial management requirements of the customer group, all materials at this stage will not manage their inventory value in the SAP system, but only the inventory quantity. So in the SAP implementation project, materials entering the SAP system will not maintain their true cost price, but will maintain an infinitesimal price (0.01CNY/99999 cost measurement unit). The purchasing value of the purchased materials will be recorded in PPV after receipt, and the financial department will transfer the amount in the PPV account to the relevant expense account on a regular basis. This infinitesimal cost price setting, for its raw materials and packaging materials, even if the type of materials do inventory management, manage inventory value and quantity, but because the unit price is infinitely small, in the daily delivery link, the inventory amount involved is so small that the SAP system regards it as zero. As a result, the system will not update the general ledger accounts related to the inventory amount in the receiving and shipping process. To some extent, this flexibility realizes the management of worthless management materials in the system.
