Benefits of deploying DHCP services

The DHCP server provides three ways to assign addresses:

1. Automatic allocation

2. Manual assignment

3. Dynamic allocation

III. The lease process of DHCP

The lease process is divided into four steps:

1. The client is looking for a device (sending DHCP discover broadcast packets)

2. The server responds to the client (sending DHCP offer broadcast packets)

3. The client sends a request service to the server (sends DHCP request broadcast packets)

4. The server provides services to the client (sending DHCP ACK confirmation broadcast packets)

IV. Installation requirements for server deployment DHCP

1. The server should have a static ip address

2. In the domain environment, you need to use the active Directory server to authorize DHCP services.

3. Establish a scope (the range of an ip address) and activate

Step of installing DHCP service (windows server 2016)

Server manually configure static ip address (test client static ip:192.168.10.2)

1. Open Administrative tools in the Control Panel, click Server Manager, and then click add roles and Features Wizard.

2. Check "DHCP Server" and then go to the next step.

3. Confirm the installation (waiting for installation)

4. Install successfully. Close the option.

5. Click the tool in the upper right corner of "Service Manager" to open the DHCP service.

6. Right-click in the left column of DHCP to create a scope

7. Define scope

8. Exclude ip range addresses

9. The lease term is 8 days by default.

10. Add a scope default gateway

Activate the scope and complete the configuration

12. The client modifies the static ip to obtain the ip test automatically

13. Configure client ip address reservation (printer ip address and target client mac address need to be reserved)

14. Test client

1. Call the cmd command to check the ip address, subnet mask, DNS server address, DHCP server address, address lease time.

2. Find the network card adapter, disable it first, and then enable it to check the ip address update.
