How to carry out a simple trial of pcDuino, many novices are not very clear about this, in order to help you solve this problem, the following editor will explain for you in detail, people with this need can come to learn, I hope you can gain something.

PcDuino, I'm interested. There happened to be one in the company, so I took it for myself and took it back to play before I went to bed at night. Let's start with a physical picture:

As I have only this board and no peripherals, I can only play with some built-in applications and install some software first.

Back to the residence, there is only a notebook, no monitor, no USB mouse and keyboard, no wired network, how to play? This really bothers me for a while. PcDuino only comes with a wired RJ45 network interface, but I only have a wireless network here, which is a little far away from the wireless routing, and I don't want to buy a longer network cable. Later, I thought of an idle wireless router with OpenWrt, so I used it to do a wireless relay, and the network problem was solved. There is also a monitor problem, which is connected with the remote desktop! Use VNC to solve. Mouse and keyboard can not be used, SSH connection to operate on it.

Upgrade the system

The first is to upgrade its own system (Lubuntu), the new version of the system will have more functions.

I need a minimum 2G SD card and a computer. I have prepared a 16G SD card. The SD card is used to swipe the system, and the computer is used to write the system image into the SD card. Does it feel very similar to the Android swiping machine? I won't say much about the specific process, it's not very troublesome. The following is a link to the download address of the system image and the upgrade tutorial:

After upgrading the system, you need to upgrade its own software and some settings. Execute the command: sudo board-config.sh sees the following interface:

Here you can set the system display resolution, time zone, language and so on. What I want to do here is to upgrade the system, press the direction key to select the penultimate third to press the prompt operation, it is relatively simple, the specific process is omitted here.

Hardware information

The hardware I got is an A10 CPU version. Although it is an A10, it does not mean that it is an A10 architecture. In fact, it is just a CPU,CPU main frequency 1GHz designed by Quanzhi Technology based on Cortex-A8, which integrates Mali400 @ 320Mhz GPU. It is said to support 2160p video decoding, which seems to be very NB. Other information: 1GB memory, 2GB flash memory, 2USB+1HDMI (audio + video) + 1SD card slot, and some peripheral interfaces that support Ubuntu 12.04 and Android ICS 4.0systems. Here is some information you can see on Ubuntu systems (Linux kernel version, CPU, disk):

2G flash memory is relatively inadequate, above is I have installed a lot of software after the system disk space, only 151m, so you may also need an SD card to expand storage.

Remote Desktop

Do some simple configuration can connect to pcDuino through remote desktop, the operation and Ubuntu is the same, please consult the relevant information. I connected to pcDuino using the VNC Viewer plug-in of Chrome. Here is the full screen effect of the connection:

Due to the relatively high display resolution setting (1920-1080), the notebook screen is not fully displayed, and several desktop icons are not captured on the picture. Remote desktop is still not very convenient, feel that there are some cards, so the back of the operation base is SSH connected to pcDuino to complete the command.

Download test

There is no monitor, there is nothing fun, just use it as a downloader to play! Although it is an ARM structure, due to the use of the Ubuntu system, the software is relatively complete, most of the commonly used software are ported, I tested Aria2 and Deluge, the command line parameters are not very familiar, I use their Web UI to operate, directly in the notebook to visit the web page can add and delete tasks online, do you feel very convenient? Here are some screenshots:
