It is rumored that many smartphone companies, such as Samsung, are studying the cameras under the display. Now the company has applied for a patent, which shows how the technology works. The patent found by LetsGoDigital and submitted to the Patent and Trademark Office (Patent and Trademark Office), referred to as "display device", stipulates that there are two different display panels on the front of the phone.

Most of the screen will use panels-very similar to the panels we now find on smartphones, but the part that contains the selfie camera (as shown in each possible location in the image below) will use a separate panel.

The second panel will have higher light transmittance or lower resolution than the main panel, which can help the camera pass through in two ways. Speaking of which, the patent says a camera, flash module and infrared transmitter are installed under the second panel.

Although there will be two panels, and although they are of course seamlessly connected, to the user, it looks like a panel, and the only sign that it may split is that it may provide different resolutions.

I hope that if the resolution of the auxiliary panel is low, there won't be a big problem, or if the panel is small enough, there won't be a big problem, but that's probably what Samsung is trying to do right now.

However, even if the resolution is significantly lower, it may be better than a selfie camera with a visible slot or notch, because in the case of insufficient display, in theory, the camera cannot see it at all when it is not in use.

So when will we see patents put into practice? It is not clear that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which may be launched sometime this year, may be the first Samsung phone with an insufficient display, but we have heard that other Samsung phones will also be available, but they are not displayed on the screen. End.

The patent is strong evidence that Samsung is at least exploring the idea, but whether we will soon see it or any version of it on Samsung phones remains to be seen. In other words, the ZTE Axon 205G is already equipped with cameras with insufficient display screens, so if you can't wait for Samsung, at least there are other options.
