Today, after using SecureCRT to connect to HPUX and using vi to edit the file, the following error message appears:

Linux: Unknown terminal type

I don't know what kind of terminal you are on-all I have is' linux'.

Cause of error:

The server does not recognize the type of terminal currently in use

Solution:

Because the HP-UX is logged on remotely through a transit server, it is invalid to configure the terminal type directly in the client software SecureCRT. Solve the problem after manually entering export TERM=vt100! For the convenience of editing later, just add a line "export TERM=vt100" to the profile.

If crontab-e cannot be used properly, you can execute export EDITOR=/usr/bin/vi.
