Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--
In this issue, Xiaobian will bring you about how to use EXCHANGE to build a mail server in WINDOWS. The article is rich in content and analyzes and narrates from a professional perspective. After reading this article, I hope you can gain something.
I. Installation environment requirements:
File format requirements: The disk partition on which Exchange Server 2003 is installed must be set to NTFS format.
2. Operating system requirements: Must be Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or later; or Windows Server 2003, if upgrading Windows 2000 Server to Windows Server 2003, must install Exchange Server 2003 before upgrading Windows Server 2003
The server must join an Active Directory domain.
Add an Exchange Administrator account
In order to install and manage Exchange Server better, you need to add an administrator account to it.
1. Create a user "ExchAdmin" in AD by the domain administrator.
2. Grant ExchAdmin user local administrator privileges on the Exchange server. (For the convenience of installation, I also gave the user domain administrator privileges)
III. Installing Windows Services
Exchange Server 2003 Setup requires the server to install the following services: IIS service, SMTP service, NNTP service, World Wide Web service (WWW); ASP.NET is also required in Window Server 2003.
2. Install Windows service components
1)Log in to Exchange Server using the ExchAdmin account, open Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, click Add/Remove Windows Components, click Application Server, and then click Details.
2)Select the check box for ASP.NET, click Internet Information Services (IIS), and then click Details.
3)In Internet Information Services (IIS), select the check boxes for NNTP Service, SMTP Service, and World Wide Web Services, and then click OK.
Note: Web Services is selected by default
4)in that application serv component options, verify that the Internet information service (IIS) check box is selected, and then click OK. In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next to install components. until installation is complete.
Verify that the Windows service components are installed correctly.
1)Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel, open Services, and see if NNTP, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, and World Wide Web Publishing Service are installed and started.
Note: NNTP service may not be enabled, but must be installed.
2)Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager in Administrative Tools and check ASP.NET status as Allowed in Web Services Extensions
Install Windows Support Tools
1. In the Windows Server 2003 installation CD, open the SUPPORT folder, then open the TOOLS folder, find the "SUPTOOLS.MSI" file and run it, install Windows support tools
2, all the way "Next" to the completion of the installation.
3. After completion, install Windows support tools on DC as well.
V. Check Active Directory and Network Connectivity
1. Use the DCDiag tool to test the network connectivity and DNS resolution of the domain controller
1)Log on to DC using Administrator account, open "Command prompt" window, and enter command "dcdiag/v>c:\dcdiag.txt"
2)Find the file "dcdiag.txt" under the C packing directory and open it to check the test situation. There is a result after each test. If it is "Passed", it means that the test passes. If it is found that there is "Failed", you should look at the reason and solve it. Finally, make sure all tests pass.
Note: The item most likely to have "Failed" is "Starting test: systemlog", which detects whether there are errors in the system log, some of which do not affect the installation and need to be treated specifically.
2. Use NetDiag tool to test network connectivity and DNS resolution of workstations and servers
1)Log on to the Exchange server using the ExchAdmin account, open the Command Prompt window, and enter the command "netdiag/v>c:\netdiag.txt"
2)Find the file "netdiag.txt" under the C package directory and open it to check the test situation. Also check if all tests are "Passed" to make sure all tests pass
VI. Forest Prep
Forest extensions are designed to extend the Active Directory schema to include Exchange-specific classes and attributes and to create container objects for Exchange 2003 organizations in Active Directory.
ForestPrep must be run once in the domain where the Schema Master resides in the Active Directory forest.
The account running ForestPrep must be a member of Enterprise Admins and Schema Admins
Forest expansion only needs to be run once in the forest.
1. Use netdom to detect the operation master FSMO: enter "netdom query fsmo /domain: turbo.com" in the "command prompt" window (turbo.com is the domain name), and you can see that DC01 is the schema master in the forest.
2. Install ForestPrep
1)Log in to DC01 using Administrator, put it on the Exchange Server 2003 installation CD and run it. Click Exchange Deployment Tools in the Welcome screen.
2)Click Deploy First Exchange 2003 Server
3)Click Install Brand New Exchange 2003
4)Click Run ForestPrep Now
5)A warning box pops up (I don't know if it's because of a Windows version problem), click Continue
6)The installation wizard interface appears, click "Next"
7)The license agreement window appears, check "I agree" and click "Next"
8)Enter the product serial number and click Next
9)Install component selection appears, click Next according to default selection
10)Here you need to grant an Exchange Administrator account, enter the user we set up at the beginning "ExchAdmin" and click "Next"
11)Start the installation of forest extension, which is usually a long process.
12)After waiting for some time, the installation is completed, click "Finish" to confirm, and complete the forest expansion.
13)In addition to the above graphical interface installation, you can also use the command line to install ForestPrep. In the "Command Prompt" window, enter "cd setup\i386", enter the installation CD I386 folder, and then enter "setup /forestprep". You can also install ForestPrep.
14)When expanding the forest, you should also pay attention to whether the "Remote Registry" service is started. If this service is stopped, the expansion will fail.
3. Verify forest expansion
1)In the "command prompt" window, enter the exchange subdirectory of the installation CD and enter "dir *.ldf". Forest expansion is to import the schema*.ldf file into the system.
2)Enter: "write.exe schema9.ldf" in the "command prompt" window, open schema9.ldf (the last schema*.ldf file) with WordPad
3)At the very end of the file, you can see that the last step is to have a rangeUpper attribute on the CN=ms-Exch-Schema-Version-Pt object whose value is replaced with 6870
4)Enter "adsiedit.msc" in the Command Prompt window to open the ADSI Edit window
5)Under "schema," under "CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=turbo,DC=com," find the column "CN=ms-Exch-Schema-Version-Pt."
6)Right-click Properties to open the Properties window. Find the rangeUpper property and see if its value is replaced with 6870. This confirms that forest expansion is complete.
7. DomainPrep
Domain extensions are used to create groups and permissions necessary for Exchange servers to read and modify user attributes.
DomainPrep Create two new domain groups: Exchange Domain Servers and Exchange Enterprise Servers
Nest the global Exchange Domain Servers group into the Exchange Enterprise Servers local group
Create an Exchange System Objects container for mail-enabled public folders
Set permissions on the Exchange Enterprise Servers group at the root of the domain so that the Recipient Update Service has the correct permissions to process recipient objects
Modify the AdminSdHolder template that Windows uses to set permissions for members of the local Domain Administrator group
DomainPrep must be performed by an account that is a member of the Domain Admins and Local Administrators groups.
DomainPrep must run once in any domain where Exchange users already reside per domain containing Exchange 2003 servers.
1. Installation
1)Log in to Exchange Server using the "ExchAdmin" account, put it into the Exchange Server 2003 installation CD and run it. Refer to Forest Extension above for the steps. When the installation project is selected, click "Run DomainPrep Now"
2)Then continue with the same forest expansion for several steps of selection, in the installation component selection also according to the default selection, click "Next"
3)Installation wizard will prompt security questions, click "OK" can be.
4)Then the installation progress interface appears, automatic installation, this process is relatively fast.
5)Finally the installation is complete, click Finish to confirm.
2. Verify domain extension installation
1)In the "Command Prompt" window, go to the ExDeploy subdirectory of the SUPPORT directory of the installation CD and enter "policytest.exe"
2)Right found:"SeSecurityPrivilege" is displayed in the test result, indicating that the permission has been found and the domain expansion is completed.
Note: If there are two DC, there may be a prompt that permission has not been found, and it takes a while to wait for it to synchronize itself.
3) Open Active Directory Users and Computers and you can see two new Exchange groups.
Note: Exchange Domain Servers and Exchange Enterprise Servers groups must be placed in the Users container and cannot be changed at will, otherwise Exchange will not function.
When you look at the properties of these two groups, you can see that the descriptions also emphasize immobility and renaming.
Install Exchange Service Components
1. Installation steps:
