6. Testing

Before the source sends multicast traffic, a RPT tree is formed between R1 and R4, and no tree is formed between R2 and R1.

The source encapsulates the multicast traffic into a unicast and sends it to the rendezvous point RP. Because there is a receiver under the rendezvous point RP, the rendezvous point will unencapsulate the unicast sent by the source and send the multicast traffic to the receiver.

The receiver then sends a Join message to the First Hop router, and eventually generates a SPT tree between the First Hop router and the Last Hop router.

7. Turn off automatic conversion of SwitchOver

To turn off the automatic translation SwitchOver, simply configure it in the global configuration mode of the Last Hop router.
