The head of ZTE database platform, member of PostgreSQL Chinese community, has been engaged in database research and design for more than ten years, and has participated in the design and development of high-performance memory database, NoSQL distributed database, financial-level distributed relational database, distributed cache and other systems developed by the company.

Integration of network management UME to realize intelligent operation and maintenance

ZTE 5G network management system UME is the next generation automatic intelligent network operation and maintenance system based on cloud platform. When talking about the construction objectives and application scenarios, Chen Hedui said, "ZTE's UME network management system supports the unified converged management of the 2x3Compact 5G network, which provides not only the basic operation and maintenance of traditional network management, but also intelligent operation and maintenance based on AI technology. ZTE 5G network management system provides operation and maintenance functions for wireless access network, bearer network and 5G core network."

In the face of massive operation and maintenance data, ZTE UME uses PostgreSQL to store data, including configuration data, alarm information, equipment status and so on. ZTE UME is implemented based on cloud platform architecture, which requires PostgreSQL database to support cloud native deployment and provide high availability in cloud environment. Problems such as node drift and data inconsistency need to be solved in the implementation process.

Reasons for choosing PostgreSQL database

The reason why we chose PostgreSQL database, Chen Hedui revealed that there are three factors.

PostgreSQL has a very friendly open source protocol, and its License is similar to BSD style and meets our requirements for open source compliance.

PostgreSQL itself is very powerful and satisfies SQL standards as well as commercial databases.

PostgreSQL community is very active, there are many open source suites, there are a wide range of commercial cases at home and abroad, and there are broad prospects for development in the future.

At the same time, some difficulties are encountered in the process of applying PostgreSQL. Chen Hedui pointed out, "for example, the problem of node drift in cloud deployment scenarios. We carefully studied the Kubernetes scheduling strategy and mechanism, combined with the operation and deployment characteristics of PostgreSQL database, the problem was successfully solved. Specific ideas and practices to solve the problem will be shared at the DTCC2019 conference."

For telecom-level key business applications, it is very important to ensure the security and reliability of data and the continuous availability of services, so operators attach great importance to the remote disaster recovery function of the database. At present, the mainstream practice in the industry is the "two places and three centers" solution. It is understood that at this conference, Chen Hedui will take the PostgreSQL database cluster as an example to illustrate some practical technical ideas and practical suggestions for remote disaster recovery, and give some prototype plans.

As the top technology event in the data field in China, DTCC has witnessed the rapid development of domestic database technology in the past 10 years. Chen Hedui said, "in recent years, we have been following the sharing theme of the DTCC technology conference, through which we understand the technological trends of the industry, as well as experts' views on hot topics, and more importantly, we have met many top experts and friends in the industry."
