In practical use, twisted pair is wrapped in an insulated cable sleeve by several pairs of twisted pair. If you put one or more pairs of twisted pair in an insulating sleeve, it becomes a twisted pair cable [1], but the "twisted pair cable" is generally referred to as "twisted pair" in daily life.

Compared with other transmission media, twisted pair is limited in transmission distance, channel width and data transmission speed, but the price is lower.

2. Coaxial cable

Coaxial cable (Coaxial Cable) refers to a cable with two concentric conductors, and the conductor and shield share the same axis. The most common coaxial cable consists of copper conductors isolated from the insulating material. On the outside of the inner insulating material is another annular conductor and its insulator, and then the entire cable is wrapped in a PVC or Teflon sheath.

Coaxial cable can be used for analog signal and digital signal transmission, and it is suitable for a variety of applications, the most important of which are television transmission, long-distance telephone transmission, short-distance connection between computer systems and local area network. Coaxial cable has developed rapidly as a means of transmitting TV signals to thousands of households, which is cable television. A cable TV system can load dozens or even hundreds of TV channels, and its transmission range can reach tens of kilometers. Coaxial cable has been an important part of long-distance telephone network for a long time. Today, it faces increasingly fierce competition from optical fiber, terrestrial microwaves and satellites.

3. Optical fiber
