Hard link

Symbolic links only indicate the location of the original file, and users need access to the location of the original file to use the link. If the original file is deleted, all symbolic links to it are broken. They point to a location that does not exist in the file system.

Both types of links can be created with the command ln. Ln creates hard links by default. Use the-s switch to create symbolic links.
