Shulou(Shulou.com)06/01 Report--

In the past two days, when learning Linux and using xshell, I found that neither the host nor the virtual machine could communicate with each other through ping. Check yourself to see if the host gets the IP automatically, while the virtual machine is static IP (static by default). Moreover, the virtual machine chooses the bridging mode. After tossing about for a while, ping finally got through.

Environment:

Host OS: win10

Network: wired

Virtual machine: VMware12.5.0

OS: RHEL 5.8

Note:

In general, the host defaults to automatic acquisition of IP,VMware bridging and defaults to static IP.

Steps:

(1) set the Bridge mode for the virtual machine Network Adapter, provided that the virtual machine is powered off.

Then open Edit with the left mouse button in the VMware menu bar, and select the Virtual Nerwork Editor settings as follows:

(2) set IP to virtual machine, etc.

First, the host uses the "Windows+R" shortcut key, pops up the run box, enters the cmd command, pops up the command prompt, and enters ipconfig

Then open the virtual machine and use "Ctrl+Alt+F7" to open the RHEL graphical user interface, as follows:

Pop up:

Open the Edit with the left mouse button in the figure above, except that the IP address cannot be the same as the host, the other items are the same as the host. (as long as the virtual machine IP and the host IP are in the same network segment)

Then open the host control panel and open the view network status and task options under Network and Internet options.

Select and open the change Adapter option

Enter the host DNS into the option box in the following figure

And then

Last

Note:

Because the host automatically acquires IP and the virtual machine defaults to static IP, the modified IP is only temporarily valid when the virtual machine is in static IP mode. (valid only if the host is on the same network segment as the virtual machine IP)
