Is this true because the solid-state hard drive is not powered on for a long time and the data will be gone? Of course, this is a rumor, but in fact, it also shows that there has been a great controversy over the reliability of solid-state disk storage.
First of all, learn about the characteristics of solid-state hard drives. Hongwang Semiconductor has said before that a solid-state hard disk (Solid State Disk or Solid State Drive), also known as an electronic hard disk or solid-state electronic disk, is a hard disk made up of a control unit and a solid-state storage unit (DRAM or FLASH chip). As we all know, the traditional hard disk reads the disk through the magnetic head to complete the data reading and writing. In the process of high-speed rotation, the collision between the disk and the magnetic head is more likely to cause data damage, and the disk is easily damaged in the process of transportation. Data is lost, there is no disk in the solid-state disk, as long as the chip is not deformed, the data can be safely stored.

According to the results of the study, at a temperature of 30 degrees, data may be lost after 52 weeks. If the temperature is raised to 35 degrees, the cycle is halved to 26 weeks; if the temperature is raised to 55 degrees, it may be lost within 2 weeks. However, it is important to note that the 52-week (1-year) period is the bottom line, which is the result of testing in extreme environments after the nominal durability of flash memory has been exhausted. In the case of newer flash memory, this time will be extended many times.
From the principle of SSD storage, it can be seen that the solid state disk distinguishes data'0' from'1' according to the voltage formed by the number of electrons in the floating gate. With the increase of ambient temperature, the electrons in the solid-state disk without power will begin to escape from the floating gate transistor, which will eventually lead to a change in the voltage state of the floating gate transistor and make the data unreadable. Under the condition of normal power-up, the current is higher in the process of erasing and writing, which can ensure the voltage stability of the floating gate transistor.
The JEDEC Standards Organization has also carried out industry standard regulations on exhausted SSD products, requiring consumer-grade products to be stored for at least one year at 30 ℃ after power off, and enterprise products for at least 3 months at 40 ℃ after power off.
Hongwang Semiconductor concluded that the rumor that the solid-state hard drive will be damaged if it is not powered on is based on the fact that the power-off of the solid-state hard drive will be placed in a high temperature environment after the product reaches its maximum design life. Products that are normally under warranty and do not meet TBW usage do not need to have this excessive concern at all. So don't worry about using solid state drives. Solid-state drives are popular because their technology is mature enough and their nature determines that they are more durable than mechanical hard drives.
