This document only describes the installation of the win2003 operating system on the IBM server, mainly for the server to reinstall the system. If you use the boot disk provided by IBM to reinstall the system, you will lose all the data on the hard disk, so this document still has a certain reference and use value. The 2008R2 installation method is similar and supports PE. The U disk boot can install the RAID driver and the system in the U disk.

One. Preparation before installation

1.1 what needs to be prepared before installation:

Check and upgrade the motherboard UEFI/IMM to the latest version

A licensed Windows Server 2003 CD (and must be the version of the integrated SP2 update pack)

A USB floppy drive and ServeRAID MR10i/ BR10i/ M1000 / M5000 driver floppy disk

For the hard drives supported by the server, check the list of Serverproven links for information about the hard drive models supported by the server.

Note: this step is very important, if you do not find a good driver, in the installation of the system, will always prompt that the hard drive is incorrect, or the hard drive is not powered up.

II. Operating system installation

2.1 download and create the ServeRAID controller driver:

1. Find the corresponding ServeRAID driver from the IBM official website.

two。 Execute the downloaded .exe file and select the extract to hard disk (Extract to Hard Drive) option when prompted. Click Next to continue.

3. Select the target path to extract, such as C:\ ServeRAID MR\ (this path needs to be created). Click OK to continue.

4. Prompt decompression is complete. Click Exit to exit the program.

5. Browse the unzipped target folder to see all the drivers that support the system.

6. According to the version of the system you need to install, copy all the files in the corresponding folder to the formatted floppy disk.

Such as\ win2k3-32\.

Note: do not copy the\ win2k3-32\ folder, just copy all the files in that directory!

2.2 operating system installation:

1. Start the server, put the Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) installation CD into the CD drive and boot with the CD. When the message "Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver" appears at the bottom of the screen (figure 1), press F6 several times and wait for setup to continue.

two。 When the following message interface appears, insert the ServeRAID BR10i/ MR10i driver floppy disk into the floppy drive and press the S key.

3. According to the prompts, put the previously done drive floppy disk into the floppy drive and press enter to continue.

4. Select the appropriate ServeRAID driver and press Enter.

5. Prompt again whether you want to load other device drivers, and the driver information that has already been loaded has been displayed. After confirmation, click enter to continue.

6. After the temporary file is loaded, press enter when prompted to install Windows Server 2003.

7. Press the F8 key to accept the Microsoft license agreement and continue with the installation.

8. Select the hard drive partition.

Select the system partition on which windows server 2003 is installed. After the partition is selected, press enter to continue the installation.

Note: the new server does not have a partition when the operating system is installed for the first time, so you need to create a new partition by yourself.

Note: if the system is reinstalled in this way, please pay attention to distinguish between the original system disk!

9. Select the NTFS file format for the partition and press. Start formatting the partition.

10. After the partition is formatted, setup begins to copy files to the system.

11. After the installer finishes copying the files, the system automatically restarts and enters the drawing installation section.

13. After confirming the regional and language settings, click next to continue with the installation.

14. Enter the name and the name of the organization, and click "next" to continue the installation

15. Enter the serial number of the product provided by Microsoft Windows Server 2003, confirm it, and click "next" to continue the installation.

16. Select the authorization mode you want to use and click "next" to continue with the installation.

17. Enter the computer name and administrator password. Click "next" to continue the installation.

18. Set the date, time and timely area. Click "next" to continue the installation.

19. Set up the network according to the actual needs, and then click "next" to continue the installation.

20. Click "finish" to finish the installation and the system will restart.
